Combustor modifications

Up to this point I have worked on many other systems, but now I have come back to the combustor issues.

What I am trying to do is make a cleaner more stable burning combustor that will not flame out quite as easy during throttle up (which it has a tendency to do), I have also added mounting tab to the bottom of the combustor so, if I decide to put it on some kind of vehicle it won't break the bolts I had before now the main part of the weight of the combustor is handled by this tab.

Right now my EGT is about 1190° F and that is right at the top end limit, the exhaust also burns my eyes when I get into a good poof of it (like camp fire smoke if you know what I mean), last of all it does not burn too stable as you can see from the video posted on July 6, 2005, when looking at how the boost guage jumps around while I was rapping the engine.

The flame holder below was used successfuly on an engine with a swirling combustor, it has been desgined after a the flame holder in a Rolls Royce Avon engine, I will use this picture as a refrence to desgin my next flame holder and hopefully it will work like a charm.

Sadly enough I won't be able to continue much work because we are preparing to move to Kansas (family out there), actually it's not that bad but I won't be able to work on my engine much for about 3 more months and by that time school will be out as well and then it will be much better for continuing work on the JT-1, but until then I will most likely not be making any new posts on my web page, when we move out there I also have to worry about getting a high speed internet too (For my Dad's home office and so I can keep my site up to date) until then I'm stuck using dialup :-(
Oh well, I do have an idea for what I will do with the engine at this point in time, I'm thinking turboshaft and 4x4 vehicle, I'm moving to a farm so it will be fitting to the location ha ha. Hmm, wonder if UPS or FedEx delivers out there, still gotta have my ebay to get parts. I don't like to think about the fate of my 933 track loader project, the thing weighs 8 tons and will cost me $3,000 to move it! and I really don't want to sell it, but that kinda money will put me out for even longer on continuing the JT-1 project, It's really bad when you are emotionally attached to a machine you can't take along if you move somwhere, oh well I'll have to make a hard decision on this one.

In about 2 weeks I will post some photos of all my failed flame holders (Next time I go to kansas to move some junk I'll take pics, I allready moved my scrap metal pile to Kansas :-). Right now here are some pics of the farm.
